Most large commercial egg producers use "prophylactic" antibiotics, meaning they feed their hens antibiotics regularly- Even if they aren't sick. We don't do that, because constant exposure to antibiotics quickly leads to creation of antibiotic-resistant varieties of bacteria. We don't think that's a smart long-term strategy for the health of our animals or our community.
